Shrodinger Equation on Midterm 1

Postby SLai_1I » Tue Oct 27, 2020 11:41 am

How much of Schrodinger's Equation should we know for the midterm? Are there any calculations to go along with it?

I was under the impression we would only have to know the first part (H times the wave function = E times the wave function), however I was also curious if we needed to know the other pieces that are on the equation sheet.

I agree that you probably only have to know H=. You should probably also know generally how the equation relates to orbitals, electron probability, and the very basic concepts of the s, p, d, and f states— just the stuff covered in last Wednesday lecture.

As long as you now up to Wednesday's lecture and the first part of section 1D in the book you should be good.
