Wave properties of electron diffraction

Hello! Does anyone have any insight into the wave properties of electron diffraction and how its caused?

So electron diffraction is a phenomenon observed when a beam of electrons passes through a very small opening, and as a result of constructive/destructive interference (a property of waves only), a pattern of electron density is generated that shows high/low presence in unexpected places. ie, because of the wave properties, the beam of electrons doesn't just flow through the small opening in a straight line to the other side as one might expect, but goes off at angles to the sides. This is a property also observed with light waves, and help prove the wave properties of matter. I hope this helps!

Adding on to rabbi, constructive interference is when two waves 'collide' and increase in intensity (matching peaks and troughs), and destructive interference is when two waves 'collide' and decrease in intensity (differing peaks and troughs). Since a beam of electrons demonstrate this property, it can be used to prove the wave-particle duality of light.

Can someone explain how the wave properties being in phase or out of phase correspond to the electrons in an atom?
