Particle in a box

Postby Jina Bae 2G » Thu Oct 26, 2023 11:52 pm

Where does 'particle in a box' concept link into the overall discussion of the Heinsberg's Uncertainty Principle and what is it's significance?

From my understanding, the Heisenberg principle comes from the idea of having an electron in a box, where it is confined in a certain amount of space. The box has a certain diameter but you don't know where the exact position of the electron can be while also knowing the exact momentum of the electron.

The "particle in a box" is a model that shows how a particle's energy is measured when confined within a box. Heisenberg's Uncertainty Principle shows that there is a fundamental limit to how precisely we can know both the position and momentum of a particle.
