Equation for ionization energy

Postby annemarielawrence » Fri Dec 03, 2021 7:54 pm

which equation would you use to find the ionization energy or the energy needed to add an electron? Would it be particle in a box?

I believe there is an equation known as the Bohr equation that would be used for this calculation although I don't think we will be tested on this or expected to know it.

I think we don't need to know the exact equation. Just know the periodic trends like ionization energy increases as you go across a period and decreases down a group.
