Difference between biological and industrial examples?

What is the main difference between biological and industrial examples of coordination compounds and can you give an example of each?

Biological: used in living beings - animal cells, plant cells, and the like. Think hemoglobin, or vitamin B12.
Industrial: used in factories or by companies in marketed products. I think bismuth subsalicylate, or Pepto-Bismol, is an example of this.

Biological examples would be the body's natural response while industrial examples could be pharmaceuticals.

For biological and industrial examples, do we have to know the formula and the structure given the name?

Hello,

Biological structures are those found in the body or naturally occurring while industrial structures are those taken by humans and used for other purposes such as in factories or medicine.

Hope this helps

Hi Kimberly!
Biological examples are coordination complexes within the body's natural functions. Industrial examples are coordination complexes manufactured for uses like medicine or factory use. So, myoglobin and hemoglobin would be biological examples, white cisplatin would be an industrial example. Hope this helped!
