Why do we have to calculate the net number of moles produced in a balanced chemical reaction?

We have to determine the ratio of moles between the reactants and the products to ensure that there is a preservation of mass before and after the reaction. The balanced equation reflects this conservation of mass and provides information that allows us to determine how much product can be produced when certain information is given in an experiment.
