Net Ionic Units

Postby Kelsey Ash 1D » Thu Oct 03, 2019 8:10 pm

When finding the net ionic units do polyatomic ions remain connected or do you multiply out the end subscript by the preceding number?

Polyatomic ions dissolve in connected units. So Na3PO4 would dissolve into 4 units (3 sodium and 1 PO4 3-).

Not all polyatomic ions dissolve. If the ion is insoluble, you don't distribute the stoichiometric coefficient.
