Re: Net Number of Moles
Net number of moles is found by adding up total reactant moles and total product moles and find the difference between them.

Re: Net Number of Moles
If the question is asking for net moles of gas, make sure to specifically only add up the number of total reactant moles of gas and product moles of gas, and then subtract them (instead of using moles of all states of matter).

Re: Net Number of Moles
Net number of moles refers to the difference between the moles of product and the moles of reactants. Therefore, add up the number of moles of product and subtract the number of moles of reactants.

Re: Net Number of Moles
The net number of moles would be moles product - moles reactant. When it specifies net moles of gas, you want to make sure you only include gaseous reactants and products in your calculations, so you want to look for and only use the molecules with the (g) indicated next to the molecule (not the s, l, or aq). The number of moles of each molecule is equal to the stoichiometric coefficient of the molecule.

Re: Net Number of Moles
Hello, when calculating net number of moles, why do we only count the moles in a gaseous state if the reaction contains substances in different states of matter? Thank you!

Re: Net Number of Moles
You can find the net number of moles by adding together the moles of reactant + moles of product and then using that number, subract the moles of reactant.

Re: Net Number of Moles
Net number of mols means the total # of mols product - the total # of mols reactant. Since this example is asking for the net number of mols of gas produced, make sure to look at the states of matter and only included those in the gaseous state. Hope this helped! :)

Re: Net Number of Moles
You calculate the net number of moles in a reaction by adding up the stoichiometric coefficients of the reactants and subtract that from the sum of the stoichiometric coefficients of the products.
Re: Net Number of Moles
You would just add the stoichiometric coefficients of the products and those of the reactants. You would then subtract that of the reactants from the products. This is based upon the assumption that all of the products and reactants are gasses. If they are not all gasses only include those that are gasses.

Re: Net Number of Moles
You could find net moles of a gas by looking at reactant moles minus the product moles.
