Crystal field theory is an extremely important topic when discussed in the lense of inorganic chemistry, and more specific transition metal chemistry/organometallics. But in the scope of our class, it is not that important to understand completely as it is a rather complex system that you will learn more about in an inorganic chemistry course. But in general, it is a very important concept that we use to model and explain inorganic systems’ interactions with organic ligands.
