Postby Patrick Blankenberg » Thu Nov 30, 2023 1:52 am

I am very confused reading the metal complex Pt(en)Cl2,

What is this en group short for and how does this change our understanding of the coordination number?

"en" in Pt(en).. stands for ethylenediamine my TA literally just told us about this and a lot of us were confused but its a bidentate ligands where en molecule can donate two e pairs so it has a higher coord number of 4 instead of 2
