How does naming sequences work? What do we use it for?

When naming a sequence, you have to start off by naming the cation before the anion. After doing that you can then name the ligands in the appropriate alphabetical order. By doing then this you can then name the metal atom/ion too. In addition once you have named the ligands, you can also name the central metal. Something to note is that is the complex ion is a cation, then you can just name the metal the same as the element.
