Heteronuclear Molecule MO notation

Postby Colin Hayashi 1K » Wed Nov 16, 2016 10:18 pm

In the example given to us in class where oxygen has a higher electronegativity value compared to carbon, the oxygen orbitals are placed lower than the carbon orbitals. Would we continue to do this for all heteronuclear molecules or just molecules with a significantly large differences in electronegativity?

This is for all heteronuclear models.
