Bar

So, in layman's terms lol, what does bar even mean, and is it significant in any way?

bar is just one unit in which you can measure pressure. There are other ways to measure pressure, one example being atmosphere (atm). Just remember that when you are doing calculations involving pressure, all of your measurements should be in the same units.

When converting your pressure units, remember that 1 bar=1 atm. Most of the time we have been using atm as our unit of pressure, especially for the ideal gas law, but it's good to remember the conversion. :)

1 bar is slightly smaller than 1 atm, but the units are approximately equal to each other. atm is sometimes called the "standard pressure," despite the fact that that pascal is the SI derived unit of pressure.
