I think thats supposed to be a representation of the units, bars, thats used when solving the equilibrium constant using pressure. I'm not sure though.

We don't need to worry much about that since in his videos Lavelle said that we don't need to know anything about activity in undergrad

Instead of using activity, we use molarities (concentration) in our calculations of the equilibrium constant value which is a close approximation to activities (more accurate but harder to measure).
