Inert Gases

Does anyone know why increasing pressure by introducing an inert gas have no effect on the equilibrium composition?

Most likely it's because inert gases won't react (because they have full valence shells), therefore they won't change the chemical equation in any way.

Increasing the pressure using inert gas has no effect on the equilibrium composition because the inert gas does not react with the molecules in the system. It is important to remember that the system does not respond to a change in pressure, rather it responds to a change in concentration. Increasing the pressure through specifically a change in the volume will affect the concentration of the reactants and products in the reaction. However, over time, after the system responds to the change in volume, the system will reach back to equilibrium with the same ratio of products to reactants.
