Ideal Gas

Postby vanessas0123 » Tue Jan 28, 2020 9:53 am

What does it mean for a gas to be ideal / act ideally?

I think that has to do with being at the ideal pressure and temperature of like 1atm and then 25C. I could be wrong though

A gas is ideal if the molecules do not attract or repel each other, but collide elastically and randomly. Also, ideal gas molecules should take up no volume.

collisions are ignored and treated as elastic.

The only interaction between ideal gas molecules would be elastic collisions upon impacts with each other or an elastic collision with walls of a container. Ideal gas molecules have no volume in and of themselves.
