Identify reactions where the ideal gas law can be used as an approximation.
Could anyone explain what they wrote for this learning outcome?

Not really sure either but I think maybe he means when the K value is smaller than 10-4 we can approximate that x is negligible?

Re: Learning outcome ideal gas law
I think it means be familiar with the ideal gas law, because it is often used to approximate conditions of real gases (which are not ideal). So, using the ideal gas law is an approximation itself.

Re: Learning outcome ideal gas law
Also, you want to know the ideal gas law in case you need to convert between units. Sometimes they will give you the pressure of a substance, and you need to convert to moles in order to solve for concentration (or vice versa), so the ideal gas law will help you with that. It's used more in thermodynamics :)

Re: Learning outcome ideal gas law
I think it just means knowing when and how to apply the ideal gas law and the ideal gas law equation. I think it also could mean knowing when you can convert between units and knowing how to set up the equation, but I am not sure.
