Value for the Bond strength

On today’s class PowerPoint, it shows that the bond strengths for Dipole-Dipole, Dipole-Induced Dipole, and Induced Dipole-Induced Dipole interactions all share a value of 0.2. Is this an exact number, or are the values approximately the same? Also, how were these values determined?

The value of 0.2 kJ/mol is not exact and is more so an estimate. For example, some dipole-dipole interactions can be much stronger while others can be much weaker, but the approximate average of the interactions is 0.2 kJ/mol. Such values are determined using a series of experiments and measurements that depend on the type of interaction. Dr. Lavelle didn’t emphasize the need to calculate such values though, just the general concepts.
