Higher Boiling Point?

Can someone please explain how a higher boiling point is achieved? Is it due to shape/the interactions, and why? Thanks!

The main idea behind a molecule having a high or low boiling point is the strength of its intermolecular forces. The stronger the intermolecular forces between the molecules, the higher the boiling point, because more energy or a higher temperature is required to overcome these intermolecular forces, since in the gaseous state, there aren't any intermolecular forces between the gas molecules. As we've learned in class, the strength of intermolecular forces depend on both shape and the type of interaction, so both of those have to be taken into account when examining boiling points of different molecules.
