Polarity final question

Postby Imogene Gaede 1G » Mon Dec 09, 2024 11:23 pm

Hello, I was wondering what people said for the ranking the polarity of various things an a benzene ring question. I was a little confused by it, thanks!

Hi! I am also thinking about this question. I chose DCBA, but I am not really sure. I guess C6(OH)2 is more polar than C6F2 because the OH groups in C6(OH)2 can participate in hydrogen bonding, which enhances the polar nature of the molecule. The C6F2 with a trans isomer is symmetrical and has no dipole moment, so I think it will be the least polar.
