Linear structure thats polar?

Postby ryuichiro_3I » Wed Dec 06, 2023 9:55 pm

If N2O is a linear structure it is a non polar strcture, how do we have a polar structure since nitrogen is more polar than the oxygen pulling the structure to one side.

Hi,
N2O is a polar molecule due to the electronegativity difference between oxygen and nitrogen. The arrangement of the atoms produces a dipole moment, making it polar.

does that mean that the shape or structure doesn't matter? even though its a linear structure?
