Dissociation energy
We discussed in lecture that dissociation energy is always measured to be positive I was wondering if there are any set of circumstances that would allow this value to become negative?

Re: Dissociation energy
I don’t think a negative value is possible. A negative number would mean that energy is released when a bond is being broken, but energy is only released when bonds are formed.

Re: Dissociation energy
Because it always takes energy to break bonds, bond dissociation energy is always positive.
