how are the two related, how would a dipole moment affect intermolecular forces?

Dipole moments cause parts of a molecule to be charged, this leads to positively charged parts of one molecule being attracted to negatively charged parts of another, leading to intermolecular forces.

In addition, the intermolecular forces produced by dipole moments would be ion-dipole, dipole-dipole, or dipole-induced dipole interactions.

Are Van der Waal's forces or dispersion forces not brought about by dipole moments?
