How do bonds affect the states of matter (whether it's a solid, liquid, or gas) for a molecule?

Intermolecular forces affect the states of matter since it changes the level of attraction between molecules that keeps the material as a solid, liquid, or gas.

The stronger the IMFs, the more likely the chemical is to stay in a solid or liquid state. The stronger IMFs make it more difficult for the matter to reach its melting or boiling point and transition between different states of matter.
