H-bonding & Dipole-Dipole (Problem 3F.1)

On homework problem 3F.1a and c, both molecules have all three intermolecular forces (dispersion forces, hydrogen bonding, & dipole-dipole). I was just wondering, if a molecule exhibits hydrogen bonding, does that mean they will also have dipole-dipole forces by default?

Yes! Hydrogen bonding is a special type of dipole-dipole attraction between molecules where hydrogen (a very not-electronegative element) displays dipole-dipole attraction with very electronegative elements, specifically N, O, and F.

Yes! Hydrogen bonding is a special form of dipole-dipole forces with hydrogen bonding exhibiting stronger intermolecular forces. This is because H (low EN) is paired with N,O, or F (high EN)

Yes- think of Hydrogen bonds as especially strong dipole-dipole interactions
