Intermolecular Force Strengths

Postby Gabriella Bates 2L » Sun Nov 17, 2019 1:00 pm

Should we memorize the approximate strengths of each intermolecular force? Or is it sufficient to know the strengths relative to each other (ie knowing that hydrogen bonding is stronger than dipole-dipole, etc)

I am pretty sure that it is sufficient to know the strengths relative to each other. Otherwise, I would ask Lavelle or your TA.

I believe we just need to know which forces are stronger than others, and when certain intermolecular forces are present.
