You have to look at the types of molecules/ions involved. Ion-dipole interaction occurs between ions and a polar molecule. Dipole-dipole interactions occur between polar molecules. London dispersion forces occur between all molecules and ions. Hydrogen bonding occurs between molecules containing an N-H, O-H, or F-H bond.

Ion-Ion interaction is between ions, the particles with unequal # of protons and electrons (look at charge). Ion-dipole interaction is between ion and someting with partial charge. dipole dipole is usually between 2 polar molecules and hydrogen bond is whenever H bonds with N, O or F. The rank of the strength of these IMFs is ION-ION > ION- DIPOLE> H-BOND > DIPOLE-DIPOLE > LDF
