how to determine ion-ion

Is it only ion-ion if the two atoms involved show a charge? Basically, is NaCl ion-ion or would it need to be Na+ and Cl- to be ion ion?

NaCl implies Na+ and Cl- so with would form an ion-ion interaction with itself. It would also form an ion-dipole if a polar molecule was present.

Any time in which there is an ionic bond between the atoms in a molecule, ion-ion interactions would be present as an attractive interionic force.

Ion ion interactions occur when there are complete charges differences, not partial. So, anytime 2 ions interact it is ion-ion. If it is an ion interacting with a polar molecule (not an ion) it is ion-dipole

If there is an ionic bond between a positively charged cation and a negatively charged anion, then ion-ion interactions are present.
