I am confused when we can identify when a question is asking about inter or intra molecular forces.
If a question was like what is stronger HS or HSe, (and correct me if I'm wrong)
HSe would have stronger intermolecular forces since it is bigger (so more LDF)
but HS would have stronger intra molecular forces since S is more electronegative than Se.
So how do we know which the question is asking for?

Re: Inter vs Intramolecular Forces
Hi! I'm not sure if this is the answer you were looking for, but intermolecular forces occur between different molecules while intramolecular forces occur between the atoms within a molecule. So intramolecular forces refer to bonds within a molecule and those that have stronger, shorter bonds would have stronger intramolecular forces. I think that if a question asks which one is stronger, it will probably be referring to intermolecular forces and the question will specify that it's asking for bond strength if it's asking for intramolecular forces. Hope this helps!
Re: Inter vs Intramolecular Forces
It's important to note that intermolecular forces occur between different molecules. If we're solely looking at HSe and HS on their own, we only can really look at intramolecular forces, or more specifically, the strength of their covalent bonds. Hope this helped!
