What are liquid crystals? Aren't crystals solid?

It's basically a state of matter that's between a liquid and a solid. It has the molecular characteristics of solid crystal, but it can change shape like a liquid. Hope that makes sense!

A liquid crystal has properties between those of typical liquids and solids. They are able to flow like a liquid but will be arranged in a way similar to crystals.
