Hi Jonathan,
An open system is a system in which matter and energy can exchange with its surroundings. Some common examples include a car engine and a stove top. More specifically, boiling water on a stove top where water can evaporate and the pot does not insulate is an example of an open system.

An open system is a system into which inputs can flow from the surroundings and outputs can flow out of the system into the surroundings. Both energy and matter flow in and out of the system.

Hi! An example of an open system could be a cup of water. The temperature of the water could change as the system (the cup) loses energy to its surroundings, and the amount of water in the cup, or the matter, could change as water evaporates. Hope this helps!

An open system is one where matter and energy can flow freely within its surroundings. For example, take water in a cup, the amount of water in the cup can change depending on the temperature as some will be evaporated as water loses energy to its surroundings.

In an open system, matter and energy can exchange with the systems surroundings. An example of an open system would be a cup of water, in which there is no lid.

An open system occurs when matter and energy can exchange with the surroundings. For example, this occurs in a beaker of water because the water can evaporate and the beaker doesn't insulate.

An open system is a system where both matter and energy can be put into and taken out of the system. For instance, an open vial is an open system. You can add material into the vial to increase the matter, or heat the vial up to increase its energy.

An open system is a system that can exchange matter and energy with its surroundings. The other systems are closed and isolated systems. Closed systems can exchange energy. Isolated systems can not exchange matter or energy.

An open system can exchange both matter and energy with its surroundings. A pot of boiling water is an open system because a burner supplies energy in the form of heat, and matter in the form of water vapor is lost as the water boils. A closed system can exchange energy but not matter with its surroundings

An open system is a system in which matter and energy can exchange with the surroundings. The most simple example of an open system is an open beaker filled with water. Water is allowed to evaporate and you can change the energy of the system by dropping things into the beaker.

A an open system is a system in which matter/mass and energy can flow in and out. An example of matter which could enter/leave the system is oxygen gas and for energy you can think of heat leaving/entering.

In contrast, a closed system can exchange energy with the surroundings, and an isolated system can't exchange anything with the surroundings.

An open system is a type of system that can interact (that is, exchange energy/matter) with the surrounding environment. As such, the initial matter or energy in the system may change, as the surroundings may either give or receive matter/energy to/from the open system.

An open system has a flow of energy and/or matter.

In comparison, a closed system is isolated from the surroundings, in regards to matter, but can still exchange energy.

An isolated system is isolated from the surroundings in terms of both matter and energy.
