Why is a LED lightbulb a closed system?

Because matters cannot be exchanged. The bulb is sealed completely. However, energy can still be exchanged.

But in trying to calculate something, do we assume the system is closed or isolated?

I would assume the system is isolated because thermodynamic problems calculate changes in energy
