Why is the universe isolated?

the universe can be considered isolated because energy nor matter can leave or enter the universe.

Since the universe is everything, it has no surroundings and thus no energy or matter can leave/enter the system, which in this case is the universe.

An isolated system is defend as a system in which no heat or matter is transferred into/out of. Because of the law of conservation of matter and energy, the amount of matter and energy in the universe is constant and unchanging - thus an isolated system.
