In the equation that gives the work for reversible expansion how do we find V1 and V2?

usually, the final and initial volumes will be included in the question.

The volumes are normally given to you. Also, sometimes the question will say that the system expands by x amount in which case you add the initial volume and x to get the secondary volume.

Usually, questions will give initial and final volumes or the change in height.
