You can think of D in PxAxD as height. Area times height would give you the amount of volume that has changed. so AxD would give you delta V

P x A x D = P x delta V

Area x distance (height )equals the change in volume. For example if you were to calculate the volume of a cylinder you would find the area of the top and multiply it by the height.

Area times distance is considered a change in a volume. Depending on how long the distance is that the area is going through, your volume will be different.

Area * distance is equal to the volume. You can think of it in terms of units. Area is m^2 and distance in m. So multiply them together and you get m^3, which is volume. Think of the areas as being slices with very small width and being stacked one on top of each other to form a 3D shape.
