Isolated System (Water bottle)
Could someone explain why a water bottle (for example those that keep drinks warm) are considered isolated?

Re: Isolated System (Water bottle)
an insulated water bottle would keep temperature (energy) constant and if it is closed then no water will leave. this means that no matter or energy is exchanged, the qualifications for an isolated system

Re: Isolated System (Water bottle)
Isolated basically means energy and temperature remain constant?

Re: Isolated System (Water bottle)
An isolated system is a thermodynamic system that cannot exchange either energy or matter outside the boundaries of the system. Heat is not leaving and neither is the contents of the water bottle

Re: Isolated System (Water bottle)
It is considered isolated because there is no matter transfer between it and the environment. Since the water bottle is insulated that means that no heat would be able to be transferred.

Re: Isolated System (Water bottle)
This is because the water is insulated, so energy cannot move in and out of the system!

Re: Isolated System (Water bottle)
Because it's insulated, there is no energy exchange between the inside and outside of the waterbottle. An isolated system is characterized by there being no matter or energy transfer between the system and the surroundings
