In question 9 where did the solution manual get the 0.38 J/C.g for the heat capacity of copper?

The specific heat capacity of copper is 0.38 J/C.g. This value is a known calculated value thats specific to copper.
A list of specific and molar heat capacities of common materials, including copper, are listed under Table 4A.2 (its on page 252 in my textbook.)

Heat capacity is usually a given value. If you see something like this on the midterm, there should be a table or something somewhere that has the heat capacity for a bunch of different things.
