Clarifying about Midterm

Postby Aurbal Popal » Sun Feb 10, 2019 3:36 pm

I know Professor Lavelle said that the midterm will cover Thermodynamics until the end of entropy, but what does that mean exactly? Do we just have to know everything he taught up to but not including Free Gibbs Energy?

I would say that it is only focused on the topics covered in class and if you are using the textbook to only focus on the section of the chapters that come before the Gibbs Free energy section. In the case of the 6th edition it would be to only go up to section 9.11 from Chapter 9.

I believe we should be focusing on the topics that are on the outlines all the way through the end of entropy. It's easier if you read based off of the outlines Dr. Lavelle gives us.

In lecture, Dr. Lavelle indicated that from Gibbs Free Energy onward would not be included in the midterm. For the 7th edition, I believe that is the reading of sections 4J and the parts of 5G.

In class he said that the only thing we have gone over in class that will not be on the midterm is Gibbs Free Energy.
