Is U a state property? Why or why not?

Yes, U is a state property because changes in internal energy are a function of initial and final states. I.e. deltaU=Uf-Ui

State properties are properties where the value is determined by the current state, not the "path" taken to reach the state. For internal energy, to find the change you just subtract initial(U) from final(U) without thinking about the path taken in between (for example, if U jumped up and down several times before reaching its new state). Since you don't care about the in between and only the final U, its a state property/function.

Yes it is a state property since it is the Final internal energy minus the initial internal energy.

Internal energy (U) is a state property because the value doesn't change no matter the path you took to get there.

Yes "U" is a state property because it does not depend on how the system got from the initial to the final state.
