ΔG, ΔG0, ΔS, ΔS0,ΔU at equilbrium

Postby Aanya Tanti 3C » Tue Mar 09, 2021 8:02 pm

I'm a bit confused- what are the values of ΔG, ΔG0, ΔS, ΔS0 and ΔU at equilibrium?

At equilibrium:

ΔG = 0

ΔS = 0

ΔU = 0

A system is in thermodynamic equilibrium when there are no changes in the macroscopic properties (internal energy, entropy, temperature, etc.) of the system.

ΔGo is unlikely to be zero at equilibrium but it can be. It occurs when K = 1.

ΔSo is unlikely to be zero at equilibrium but it can be. It occurs when there is no difference in the standard entropy between two states (or compounds).

I should use these as test questions. Good question.
