Hi Jonathan,
A closed system is a system where energy can exchanges with its surroundings. An example would be a sealed beaker of water (like Dr. Lavelle mentioned in lecture). Hope this helped!

Closed systems allow energy to leave and enter, but matter is not allowed to do so.

Hi! A closed system is a system where there is a fixed amount of matter, but it can exchange energy with surroundings. An example is a cold pack for injuries.
