work equation

So just to clarify, the integral of the work function just represents any system at equilibrium?

The integral function represents the work done by a system when the system maintains an equilibrium for each step of volume change. Under this situation, external pressure always change every step when volume change, and so we need to use the integral function instead of the W=-p delta V equation.
