### Heat v Thermal Energy

Is there a difference between heat and thermal energy or can they be used interchangeably?

### Re: Heat v Thermal Energy

All heat is thermal energy but not all thermal energy is heat. Heat only refers to the thermal energy that is transferred between objects.

### Re: Heat v Thermal Energy

The transferring of heat occurs because of thermal energy because thermal energy is the driving force for heat transfer.

### Re: Heat v Thermal Energy

Heat is the transfer of thermal energy from an object of higher energy to an object of lower energy while thermal energy is the total energy associated to a system at a given temperature.
