Vocab. in thermodynamics

Postby Nane Onanyan 1G » Sun Feb 07, 2021 10:14 pm

Will these terms ever come up in the problems we do in thermodynamics?

-adiabatic wall
-diathermic wall
-translational energy
-rotational energy
-vibrational energy

I have been working through a few textbook problems and haven't seen it come up yet... not 100% sure though.

I've really only seen adiabatic but none of the other ones (yet).

I'm pretty sure we won't because Lavelle haven't really assigned anything with these terms but I'm not quite sure

I don't think so but I may bring it up to a couple UAs and respond later with more info

If prof. Lavelle mentions them in lecture then they are fair game

He did mention adiabatic system (but not adiabatic wall) in lecture today but other than that I have yet to see these terms discussed in lecture or in homework problems.

Definitely know the terms that are mentioned in lecture as they are fair game.

Wait, what does adiabatic mean?
