Summary of Terms?

Postby Mia_Renna_1L » Sun Feb 05, 2023 6:55 pm

is there a brief summary of these terms somewhere? Or could someone describe what each of these terms (isochoric/isometric, isothermal, isobaric) mean please?

These terms all refer to reactions in which one variable remains constant.

Isochoric/Isometric: volume remains unchanged
Isothermal: temperature remains unchanged
Isobaric: pressure remains unchanged

Reactions with a constant variable are useful in finding relationships between and determining values for the other variables (which are allowed to change).

There's also another post that's been made by a chem moderator called "Useful Summary of Thermodynamic Definitions", you should check that out!
