Solving the Integral

Postby 005925345 » Thu Jan 25, 2024 9:56 pm

I understand that the equation for work done by an isothermic system requires solving an integral- however, this is simplified so that it is a logarithmic calculation. Is there ever a situation where we will have to use the integral rather than the final, simplified form of the equation?

We will use the final form of the equation.

In class I will go through how we obtain the final form of the equation so that students understand how the equation is obtained and when to use the equation.

I will spend almost a full lecture discussing isothermal reversable expansion of a system and related equations.
