### Work on Phases of Matter

When the energy of a system changes by doing work on it, is it only possible for gases, or also liquids and solids?

The energy of a system can change by doing work on liquids and solids as well. Of course, this is assuming that the external pressure remains constant.

I think any system changes energy when work is done on it.
