Difference between irreversible/reversible reaction?

What is the difference between irreversible/reversible reactions? Can someone please give an example?

Aren't reversible reactions where the reactants can go towards the products and the products can go back toward the reactants, like weak acid and base dissociation? That would mean that irreversible reactions would only go in one direction (from reactants to products), such as combustion reactions.

irreversible reaction occur at thermodynamic equilibrium, while reversible reactions do not maintain thermodynamic equilibrium.
irreversible reaction are where the products formed do not combine to give the reactants
I looked up a reaction online that is an example
potassium chlorate decomposes on heating to form potassium chloride and oxygen. However the products cannot combine to form potassium chlorate.
