### Derivative

Since the equation involving the derivative can be worked out to a much easier equation, under what instance is it necessary that we actually have to use it?

I guess we would actually only have to integrate if we were given some sort of equation for pressure that is a function of volume, without the number of moles or temperature for the problem. Otherwise, if we know the final and initial volume, the number of moles, and temperature at which the reaction took place, we can use the simplified equation (w = nRTln(V2/V1)
