Just to clarify, the difference between the two different types of work equations is that one is for when a system is under constant pressure and the other is if the system is not? Also, why does w=0 when volume is constant?

Work is zero when the volume is constant because the volume isn't changing and thus there is no movement of the boundaries. When there is no expansion, there is no work being done.
